I've known Sparky for many years, he was a sweet thing but could also be a real Victor Meldew! In October 2006 he lost his friend and nephew having been together almost 13 years.  Initially Sparky would wait for Pickle to come home and would look for him, sadly it took Sparky some time to realise that Pickle was not coming back.

During April Sparky started to go down hill, be even more grumpy and when I saw him I sensed he grieved for his friend and wanted to be with him.  He was giving his owner a real hard time, which I could sense was him actually preparing her for him leaving.  I offered Sparky Reiki on a few occasions, initially he would settle into the session but then after a few minuets get up and walk away, I always picked up a feeling of "I don't want to be better" so I would leave him.

During April I had been on an Equine Communication course to help with my work and strangely the next time I saw Sparky he stood in the kitchen just looking at me, now I understand that he knew I could hear him if he wanted me too.  I was sensing from him that the time was coming when he would join his friend but he worried about his owner.

Sparky was going down hill so he was taken to the Vet, tests were done and he went home to await the results, during the wait he became very weak and was taken back to the Vet where he spent a few nights hooked up to a drip.  A few days later he was diagnosed with Kidney disease and put onto a special diet but sadly on Friday 4^th May he woke up blind, terribly confused and distressed. He was taken to the Vet as his owner knew the time had come.  That morning I had a vision of Sparky and Pickle tearing around the garden playing, but that night was the most amazing episode.

Sparky communicated to me a message for his owner, I jotted down the phrases and words I was given totally unsure if this was my thoughts or his.  I typed my notes up the following day and decided to tell his owner what had happened and in a special kind of way this really helped her, as she read what was written and related to me some of his stories she knew he was with his friend and at peace.  Although she misses him very much she takes comfort knowing it was really his choice and he is pain free and happy. 

For the sceptics amongst you reading this - join the club! My Reiki Master will tell you I was the worst sceptic she had ever had attending one of her courses - but the fact is I cannot deny what I feel, see and hear and these animals remind me why I have chosen this path of helping animals whether it be in this life or to move on to the next and then help their owners with the process.
